Two sets of hands are always better than one when heading into surgery. Now Wisconsin surgeons are suiting-up without even getting theirs messy. Mercy Hospital in Janesville has welcomed the "da Vinci Si HD" into its operating rooms. The dual-console robotic surgical system allows two surgeons to perform minimally invasive procedures utilizing the mechanical hands. The da Vinci has twice the viewing resolution and the HD cameras can see more than the human eye. Some benefits for patients include faster recovery, less pain, less risk of infections, and minimal scarring which adds up to increased satisfaction.

"The goal is to take something very difficult that would keep people in the hospital for a very long time and make it simpler, but not compromise the outcome. We want better than normal outcomes, but a situation where the patient can go home and resume his daily activities in a much shorter period of time," says urologist Nick Gianitsos, MD.
